Have you ever taken a picture of children? How about a baby? A one-year-old? Well, let me tell you that most one-year-olds squirm, cry, fuss, blink and a whole lot more. I know. I have 2 little girls. To get one proper picture of them takes several shots with us constantly asking them to stand straight, not to lift up their dresses, smile, but not that kind of smile, etc. etc. etc. In short, taking pictures of children is not as easy as it seems!
And then I met Shazil: the coolest, cutest, and fuss-free one-year-old. In the middle of winter, without a jacket, on the railroad tracks, this baby was all smiles. We had such a fantastic time shooting Shazil’s one-year-old pictures. With 3 locations changes and 3 outfit changes, this baby was just doing his thing and letting us do ours.
Shazil was not only such an easy baby to take photos of, he was so inquisitive and interested in the simplest things around him. Yes, like any other baby he would try to put everything in his mouth, but it was so innocent. As I was taking these pictures, I realized how simply children can entertain themselves. There is such a raw beauty in observing children and capturing a smile as a child discovers a rock or a leaf, which is just an after thought to us as adults.
So, I want to wish one-year-old Shazil, the baby who made me once again appreciate the beauty of the simplest things in nature, a very happy birthday! Thank you for allowing me to have this magnificent learning experience. Happy Birthday Prince Shazil.
